Donald Trump a post-Brexit trade deal between the US and the UK “was possible” as he rounded off the end of the first day of his state visit.
In a series of tweets following a meeting with the Queen, he wrote: “big Trade Deal is possible once U.K. gets rid of the shackles. Already starting to talk!”
The US Ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson, told the Andrew Marr Show that the whole of the economy, including the NHS will be “on the table” in a US-UK trade deal after Brexit.
Effusive
Trump, who had a private lunch with the Queen was effusive about his visit.
“London part of trip is going really well,” he tweeted. “The Queen and the entire Royal family have been fantastic. The relationship with the United Kingdom is very strong.”

Around 100 people had gathered outside the gates Buckingham Palace protesting at Trump getting “the red carpet treatment” on his state visit.
Banquet
On Monday Mr Trump and his wife Melania attended a banquet at Buckingham Palace tonight.
Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn was tomorrow expected to speak at a demonstration against Trump’s visit when the president meets Theresa May for talks.
The Trump baby blimp – a large inflatable Trump effigy wearing a nappy and gripping a smartphone – is also expected to take to the skies over Parliament tomorrow.
It last flew over Parliament in 2018 during the President’s last visit.
It rounded off an eventful day which began with the President hitting out at Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan for being “foolishly nasty” to him and the United States and called him “a stone cold loser” who should “focus on crime”.
